Hi, my first Leupold comp came with an AJP top turret, which I didn’t fit, but there was this long spring included, which I presumed went under the new turret. Never used it, and ended up selling it on.

I picked up another comp, but a 35x, this also came with an AJP turret not fitted, however there was no big long spring. Do I need this spring to help keep zero on the turret?

    Thanks - Geoff.

    Ok, thanks.

What was the multi layer spring for that seems to fit inside the turret?

    Original turret.

But we took them out of that too.

I can't tell you why it's there I'm sure someone will but I will tell you I've had two Leups and one had it one didn't and it made no difference in operation.

When adjusting the top turret of a Leupold Competition scope the screw in the top is loosened just enough for the turret to spin freely supported by the spring. When turned to the desired position the screw is tightened.
The spring holds the turret top up.

Ok, cool, that’s great. Looking forward to having the extra close range of the comp.

    Thanks!
