Am about to order a "COFFEE" from the US..

Are the laminates good enough for air rifles ?

Just looked at their 'Custom Rifle Makers' list at the bottom of the page; I clicked on a few and saw the results...so It must be good enough for an FT rifle action methinks.

PS: When importing to UK, there is a VAT charge + approx 10% extra on top to pay for UK customs.

    " Hi,

I can definitely do the stocks you are looking for. We have the following available:

    7" At Butt tappered to 3" at Tip x any thickness (2" up to 3 1/4") x 35" length

    - Pricing is based on $.100 Per Cubic Inch - or $35.00 per blank starting at 2" and up

    - We also have 40" length at $50.00 for a 2" thick stock and up, depending on thickness (our product and pricing is slightly better than Boyd's and shipping should be less as well to UK as we are in Maine)

    - you can see our colors from our website, but I can customize any color combination you need.

...Let me know how you want to proceed and we will get your material into production.

He dont make it, gets it from same place as most others do, theres no name changes to the colours and worked with half of them over the years.

I would be worried if buying for an FT stock its only 7" nominal at butt tapered to 3". Most European guns need setting down 2" if done right, that means at best you will only have a pistol grip with enough for two fingers inc trigger finger, theres no wood there.
Think its same dimensionally as Boyds.

You can have any colour combination as long as you order 4 whole planks from the same place he gets it, takes two to three weeks. If cut right will get 4 out of each one, takes some doing.

    Hi Jon,

What are your ideal dimensions for a plank of laminate for an FT stock ?

As far as colour, well you know, its a subjective matter...'one man's idea of beauty is another man's nightmare' LOL !...(here is a close up pic of coffee - grey / brown )

Anyhow, have queried some of your points and got this reply:

" We make panels (nearly always you can get two full stocks out of the panels)
We can customize and/or produce any color combination that you want (veneer is 1/16" thick so we use 17 layers per inch) and we base our panel sales from that - So both the colors you sent me are easy to produce, depending on thickness your cost would be charged per cubic inch:

    a) 2" x 10" x 35" Panel is $60.00 Plus Shipping (this gives you two stocks)
    b) 2 1/2" x 10" x 35" Panel is $70.00 Plus Shipping
    c) 3" x 10" x 35" Panel is $80.00 Plus Shipping

We also do a 14" x 40" Panel (Minimum of 3 Stocks Per Panel, sometimes 4 depending on stock model and if one piece or two piece)
    d) 2" x 14" x 40" Panel is $89.00 Plus Shipping
    e) 2 1/2" x 14" x 40" Panel is $104.00 Plus Shipping
    f) 3" x 14" x 40" Panel is $119.00 Plus Shipping

OK so what I am getting at is you will have to actually purchase the panel itself, as we may not have an outlet for the other stock - Hopefully this makes sense to you...but remember give me the exact lay-up of colors you want and I will customize your panel needs - thanks Peter...

You will need B and will definately only get one decent stock.
Shipping on one shouldnt be too bad.

Other than that E and will get no more than two if cut out correctly.

Normal panel size is 51†x 16.5†or 35.5†x 12†nominal, could loose an 1 1/2" on each edge if not more the way the veneers are stacked.
    The supplier saws upon request.

If he is willing to supply one panel made up with chosen colours not off the shelf, grab it.
Dont let him saw a blank, it will only be fit for a sporter.
