After speaking to many people in regards to rifle servicing I have established there to be more than one person doing a grand job I.e John Osler, Barry Taylor and Dave Pennman......

What confuses me is what is it different they each do that gives them the thumbs up? Is it price? Parts? Or Service etc.

Some light shed on this would be grateful.

    Cheers :)

The answer to my question relies more on the chaps who have actually used the above mentioned people and not just personal opinion on them.

For me, with regards my Ripley anyway, it is John Ostler.

Great chap to talk to and when I dropped mine off to him (drove up from Portsmouth) he took one look and said 'I built that one.' . When I collected it he let me put a few shots over the chrono with the pellets I use to confirm the fps I had asked for then showed me all the bits he had replaced.

Admittedly had a firing valve snap about 4 weeks after that which was replaced FOC. Thats a better service than I have had from some garages.

Since that time it has only needed a little tweak downwards on the velocity a year after that as was getting nearer to 780 than my preferred 770fps. Other wise has performed faultlessly, unlike like its owner.

Will be taking my older Ripley to him for a complete service.

Can not comment on any others as not used anyone else.

I can only vouch for Dave as he sorted and seviced my pro target and it came back MEGA utterly consistent. I have no doubt the other two gentlemen are very good but can only vouch for Dave as I've seen his work.

    servicing

    Hi

I have used both Dave & Barry for my Ev2's in the past, both great service but I would probably use Barry as he is only 45 mins down the road from me.
I think its better if you can use someone local that you can deal with face to face.

    Little trick's

They will all offer you a good value for money service, the only difference is they will all have their little trick's.
Mr Ostler did an amazing job of setting up my EV mk2 trigger.
As said before, local is a good starting point.

Many thanks guys for all your advice and experiences with the named people in question. Highly appreciated.

Unfortunately the only local person I can think off as a starting point would be and is only my Car Mechanic. ....

Therefore I will have to send my rig on a trip to one of the said hero's. I agree with Ratinator that each one does a top job but all have their little tricks which those tricks make them individual and stand out.

However in the meantime will use one of them and experience it for my self.

    Cheers:)

John is just off the M1 near Ilkeston. Steve Page put me contact with him.

His telephone number has been on a couple of threads on here asking about him.
