Myself, Dave Hatfield, Steve Lanyman & Ching Chong Del were taliking yesterday about extreme shoots and we are going to give a “Winter Series” a go.
For now there will be 4 rounds with 3 counting for the series winner, the venues will be,

    Wendover (new Ground) 28th November
    Treetops 19th December
    Quarry 23rd January
    Wendover (Old Ground) 20th February
The Wendover shoot on the 28th November will now be the first round, other dates to follow soon

    40 shot courses, with 20 lanes x 1 target, 10 lanes x 2 targets.
For anyone who has shot the Quarry Extremes in the past it will be a similar format, 8mm to 45mm targets, 8 yards to 55 yards, with one 70 yard bonus target.
You can alter your parallax but before you approach the peg, on the 2 target lanes once you shot the first you then take your eye away from the scope to redo the parallax, 12 mag max.
Full format will be on here soon.

If you are interested please add name to lists (cut and paste)

    RULES

UKAHFT rules will apply, with some exceptions.
You are allowed to alter your parallax (Not Mag) before you get down for your shot, 12 mag maximum, some targets will be 1 peg 1 shot and some will be 2 shots per lane, you are allowed to take your eye away from the scope to alter the parallax on double lanes.
    Apertures are allowed.

    EXTREME HFT COURSE FORMAT

The Course will be set up using the following combinations of targets, which may be set on the ground, up trees or anywhere else in-between. Please remember the emphasis is on setting out the course to simulate hunting scenarios, rabbits in long grass, squirrels in trees, rats in pipes etc and not just plain target shooting, Use anything available including drainage pipes, cages, hay bails, logs, pallets etc to make the course more interesting, as realistic as possible with varied target distances over the whole range (8 to 55 yards) one extreme bonus points target at 70 yards.
When setting out courses you must place targets and pegs to allow for both right & left handed and Junior shooters taking part in the event. Please also ensure that obscured or dark targets do not put people with cheaper scopes at a disadvantage. For extreme courses you are only allowed 12 mag maximum but you are allowed to alter parallax before approaching the peg, you are allowed to take your eye away from the scope to alter the parallax on double lanes. Apertures are allowed.

    TARGETS (and Permitted Distances)

    • 8 mm to 12 mm Hit zone Targets from 8yds up to a maximum of 25 yd's.
    • 15mm to 24mm Hit zone Targets from 8yds up to a maximum of 45 yd's.
    • 25mm to 34mm Hit zone Targets from 8yds up to a maximum of 55 yd's.
    • 35mm to 45mm Hit zone Targets from 8yds up to a maximum of 55 yd's.
    • There must be NO OBSTRUCTIONS in the shooters line of sight from the firing point within 8 yards of the rifle muzzle to avoid any possible dangerous ricochets

    • All supported shots must have the target number on the support, this designates the object that must be used as a support, and no peg should be used for these shots.

    THE COURSE
    • 40 Target positions with 20 lanes x 1 target, 10 lanes x 2 targets

o 4… Must be standing shots using 25mm to 45 mm hit zones only and un-obscured…use terrain to force these,. Two of these shots must allow the shooter support on a tree or other inanimate object, two shots being unsupported. There must be a “Standing only” sign in place at the peg, 25mm Max 35 yards, 40mm Max 45yards

o 4… Must be kneeling shots using 25mm to 45 mm hit zones only and un-obscured …use terrain to force these. Two of these shots must allow the shooter support on a tree or other inanimate object, two shots being unsupported. There must be a “Kneel or Stand” sign in place at the peg, 25mm Max 35 yards, 40mm Max 45yards
    o .

The remaining 32 targets must be placed so each target is able to be shot from at least the prone & kneeling position. We suggest you use your local flora and other features to make the targets more interesting.
    • The course should be set out using a total of :
o Min 6 , max 10 ….10mm to 19mm kill zone targets (not to be used for Standing or kneeling Shots)
    o Min 8, max 12 …. 20mm to 34mm
o All remaining targets should be … 35mm to 45mm kill zones

    SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

    • All targets must have a suitable backstop or a safe fall out zone behind.
    • When setting out the shooting lanes, ensure other lanes do not encroach on the line of sight within 45 degrees either side of the target on that lane.
    • Try to keep lanes/pegs either in a straight line or in a horseshoe shape, firing outwards and avoid forward pegs, which could endanger one shooter from another shooter standing behind on a neighbouring peg
    • Ensure you firing lines are clearly defined.
    • Rope or barrier off any routes, which could permit shooters or other persons to enter into the firing/fallout zones. Consider areas suitable for spectators to view from if possible.

    PEGS
    • Wooden/plastic peg only. All pegs should be clearly visible and project above ground level by at least 300mm & be firmly fixed in the ground. Pegs should not be used for the 4 supported shots as the support is classes as the peg & should be numbered accordingly
    • Shooting points must be placed in positions allowing shooter including juniors and left handers to get into position and view the target.
    • All shooting points to be clearly marked No’s 1 to 40 inclusive. And likewise the corresponding targets.
    • Check there is no broken glass, brambles, insect nests or other such hazardous materials around.
