Used the Rangesports one (Thanks Chris Coombes), at The Greyhound and my gear only needed one wash. Without it I suspect that shotblasting would have been needed:D:D No idea about the other one but Rangesports support UKAHFT & WAHFT so if I was to get one thats where the cash would go:cool:

Bloody hell, just checked the price on the other one:eek::eek:. You want a mat not a frickin bed, Rangesports everytime:cool:

They are both good mats and do the job you want them to and won't go far wrong with either.

    A question on mats ...

I have seen other posts on these and a lot of guys say that they don't bother unless it's "really bad". I feel that way too as I'm happy lying in the dirt but on occasion have been covered in sludge.

Trouble is ... How do you know it's "really bad"?

I've been to shoots where it's thrown it down all week but the shooting positions are fine. I've also been to shoots where it hasn't rained for ages but the positions are still mud baths. So recent weather isn't always a great guide.

In the worlds and nationals the peasants aren't allowed near the course before the start so how do you know whether to take a mat or not? Do you just throw it in the car and listen to the general mumblings of " it's a bit wet out there " filtering through from the course setters/organisers? Or do the folk from that shooting ground usually post in the pre shoot thread advising people to come prepared for lots of mud?

    Cheers

    Colin

I take mine to every shoot. I would rather lug it around than get smothered in crap and have to shoot 30 lanes cold wet and muddy.

To the original poster, if the Rangesport one is cheaper and everyone is telling you they are quality,
Then surely it's a no brainer.

    Missed it's
    My vote for rangesports.

Easy on the knees getting down, multitude of colours or patterns and it floats:D

Like Chris says, jet wash it when done-I've been getting some funny looks at work lately though, lugging a muddy mat across the car park and a dripping clean one back.

After a good year or more of trying differing methods to counter the conditions we can find ourselves shooting in (waterproofs in the mud, old exercise mat etc), I finally decided to order a shooting mat from Rangesports.
Reasons behind this were mainly the feedback I've read and also that the guys at Rangesport use the kit themselves and shoot in our sport.
Had a great chat with them yesterday morning, and hey presto! Mat arrived this morning - first impression: very solid bit of kit, comfy and wide enough for if and when I begin to expand. The pockets are good and the clear one will be great for range cards etc. For lugging around the handles are fine and the shoulder strap if needed will do the job, also folded it can cover your rifle and be used to carry it.
Looks like this could well be used as a sleeping mat when camping as well!
First trial tonight at the club (Lincs HFT) and the next at Kibworth.

Yep, Rangesport is the one I'd choose.
