I started out fine with my Gold Star but when I upgraded to a 10-50x60 scope I needed extra height so the scope would fit.
It is true, having a scope riser rail stops neck ache too.
    Win win:)

If you go too high though the gun becomes unstable - and looks silly;)

In ft it can help to bring the clicks between 50 and 55 yards closer together. Which helps range-finding the target. I think.

    Better head position
Less clicks further out so more margin for error in range finding.

More room for fat fingers to load and easier to see the loading port, depending on the rifle design.
