Straightforward question really, is a quickfill conversion possible on the AR20 FT. I know John at Hydrogrpahics does the Steyr mod, just wondered if anyone knew whether it's possible on the AR.

Friend has one and was interested in getting it done after seeing the QF on my LG110.

    Cheers

Yes. I've been shooting one today. The pressure gauge is sacrificed, and this model has an old type Air Arms nipple in its place. I imagine the newer AA filler that takes the banjo would also fit.

Thanks Rich. Shame about the gauge, I know he was hoping that could be left intact.

At least I know it's possible so I'll drop John a note at Hydrographics to see if it can be done with gauge and estimate of cost (unless anyone else can advise on a possible source?).

Think they use standard Walther dommy cylinders so I'd say yes. Not seen one fine with a gauge and unverifiable rumours about quick fills with gauges is that they can leak.
But in reality you don't need one. Even the juniors are good for a course of 50 on a dommy.

Yes I do believe it's the Walther cylinder. It has a ten year planned life.

All do now Rich. Don't know how rifles like the FTP900 sort that out, but it's EU regs that they are to be marked. ISSF now check that at equipment check. I do wonder if it will trickle down to being an insurance requirement one day...

Of course, what the ISSF don't know is if someone has modified a cylinder, or if someone has etched their own date into it...

As good as the LG any day as far as accuracy goes to be honest.
I have a few groups on my album page if you wana take a look.

When they 1st came out they were ignored to a certain extent due to not being as costly as other guns. But they are REALLY REALLY good and accurate as heck. :shot::D

Great shot count per charge too.

The one I am shooting is basically with me on trial, second or third hand, on sale or return...

It's been modified and is lighter at the front end than the standard rifle. In terms of handling and convenience, well I don't like the clunkiness of the cocking system, (after the EV2 for nine years) but accuracy is beyond doubt, and I find it a much better rig than the EV2 for standing shots.

So there may be an EV2 mark 1 in left hand coming up for sale very soon.

The cocking is a bit agricultural next to a lot of other guns Rich, but you don't find it a problem after just a few minutes.
My wife is using mine at the minute and loves it, says it's easy to use and she likes the fact that it has loads of shots per charge.
All in all, they are amazing guns and VERY accurate indeed.
    A quick tip:
Don't leave it sitting with the slide closed. Leave it open and it is much smoother from the start of the next use.

I have owned an AR20 previously and have to agree on accuracy. As it happens, at the BR club I am a member of, the 20yd comp record is held by an AR20 FT (185).
For me, it was just too 'clunky'.

Jinx, that would be great if you could get me the email address of the guy who does the QF conversion.

John at Hydrographics will be able to do one with a gauge.

May be have it sprayed in a fancy colour while its there.

    AR20 Quick fill

Just to add to this, I know of two that have been modified. One by 'Jon' (on StB) and the other by Shawn Hill at ISP Air rifles in Bloxwhich ('Spartan' on StB).
Both said it was a horrible job, but the results were good. Sorry to add that Jon has so much work, I would not ask him this year.

I have one with the shroud removed and a airstripper which is actually a steyr one
Very accurate. At least as accurate as my steyr but not quite as refined to shoot. If you find one 2nd hand they are good value for money

These look a little rough compared to the ones i have seen to be honest !
Mick Troman makes them from scratch in titanium and are really neat and tidy, and light.
