A few of us have tried using reading glasses this morning & they do indeed make the close targets clearer, this in our opinion is an extra optical aid & we need to nip it in the bud before all shooters rush off to buy cheap reading glasses to use in competition.

Therefore in future all shots must be taken in the same way, if you take the first shot wearing glasses (be them reading or short sighted) then all other shots must be taken using them. If the first shot is taken without them then they must not be used to take any other shots on that course. Anyone caught using them as an “optical aid†will be disqualified.

This doesn t mean you can t take your glasses off between lanes or use reading glasses to load a gun or mark a scorecard it solely applies to actually taking the shot.

Not trying to be pedantic, serious question. What about looking through the scope, using glasses, just to acquire the kill-zone, but leaving them off for the actual shot?

As long as you don't take too long about it & get timed out it won't be a problem, however if you forget to remove them & take the shot you would be DQ'd

so if you have varifocals you can use the reading lens for near shots and the long distance lens for the long shots , how are the rules going to cover that situation ?

Not being as pedantic as Charles but if I was to start a comp wearing glasses ( prescription ones that I hadn't just bought , lol ) got to a peg , removed my glasses and looked through my scope but then put my glasses back on to shoot the actual target would I be disqualified ?

    many thanks

    Dave

What is the ruling for bifocal wearers?

Ps, just try looking through the bottom of a pair of glasses whilst prone.

You would need a hinge in your neck. :D

    Keep your specs on !

PS : If you need glasses please make sure you still wear them as it could be dangerous being blind walking around the woods with a gun ;)

does this mean that anyone with a disability will not be allowed any equipment that may give them equality with an ablebodied person

I'm lacking the sight in one eye, therefore no depth perception, would a laser range-finder be okay?:D

IMO this is a total issue as, as with glasses whats stopping me going to buy a pair for the closer shots when i dont need them for other stuff.

So no, people with a physical disability will not be stopped using an aid, unless its only when it suits them:cool:
