Probably dust/dirt + UV has made the laminate go a tinge of yellow..including the grip.

So applied some elbow grease on the cheek rest...the shades of grey/black now pop out..:D

To finish it off, oil or varnish ?

would like a non gloss transparent coat...to seal it off.

    Any tips ?

Matte lacquer, either from a rattle can or a professional.;)

get a proper job done. 2 part lacquer. expensive but worth it. Oil on laminate is crap tbh. A whole stock works out at £120.00- £150.00 so what you would be charged for that part I wouldn't know. Steve Lanyman is your man ;)
