Bought a FWB 800 recently in RH drive, and I’m Left handed, it was my intention to buy a LH grip, but they turned out to be rather more than I first thought, so I set about making my own....

First, start with some layers of birch ply rough cut.

Next inlet one of the layers, and sink some T nuts into another

Nice stack, ready to be glued.

Next out comes my angle grinder, with a soft back 30 grit sanding disk. This is the only way I know to do woodwork, sure, it’s not the safest for most, but after 30 years of working with the tool like this, I still have my fingers ;-)

Some finishing with 60 and 120 grit on the angle grinder

Now time for some wood dye and a few coats of danish oil

    Fits nice on the rifle.

Needs to fully harden over the next week, and a coat of briwax applied with ultra fine wire wool and it will be complete.

    Thanks!

Very impressive. I am just about to go down a similar route but with the final finish being 2 Twill carbon fibre. I hope mine comes out as good as yours, fingers crossed.

All finished and dressed up in FT gear.
I will probably make a birch hamster and cheek piece too at some point.

    Thanks - Geoff.

Very nicely done. Why buy it when you can make it?:)
