    Does anyone know.
The card which comes with the FTP 900 has a series of shots fired into it!
At what distance and how many shots?

    10m ?

But its not a 10 M gun so what would be the point in that? If thats what it is, then thats what it is but seems a strange distance for a gun which is designed to shoot 45 and 55 yards targets depending upon discipline

    Hi
I know what your saying and makes great sense but I dont know the answer, mind you I would rather have a card at 10M than not one at all, the shots are showing pellet on pellet.
Probably someone will give you an explanation.

I thought it was 25 yards or so. I had one supplied with my mark 1 EV2 and another when it came back from a service.

Dancing while shooting is just showing off - and frankly not very safe

Both my P70 FT and Steyr LG110 FT where supplied with test cards fired at 10mtr
I think it's just an industry standard. they both used 7.9gr pellets to achieve this also which is a throwback from the 10mtr competitions which lets be honest most of our rifles (EV2 included) are developed from

    Testing must have changed

The test card for our most recent Steyr F.T gun was shot at 50 metres with Schultz Exact Express 7.87gr.

I thought AA would have a better regard to safety, still slightly better than 'tap' dancing, although the balancing is better.

Having seen the test rig at the factory, I believe it was 25M.

As Gerard said 50 meters, but not pellet on pellet, this one of mine not JCs.

I do not know anything about the AA FTP 900 so I will not make any comment. I will not add any misinformation as it would be misleading. I do hope misinformation discontinues as its the scurge of forums as of late!:eek:o

What I do know is the Steyr LG110 FT rifles in the past few years have their barrels tested and grouped at 50m. The barrel is clamped and in a purpose made rig to eliminate humar error. I am almost sure it is 10 shots, but it is at least 5.

Steyr produced the longer barrel with a different twist for FT using 7.9grn Express. This is why it was tested at 50m i.e. the max dist of a FT competition target.

Its not a standard, just lessens the risk of manufacturers having to reject any barrels for innacuracy.;)

My new Steyr came with a very tight 50 m test group. Having gone and picked a gun from a batch (between Xmas and New Year) I was suprised by how much variation there was in the test groups of the 5 or 6 guns I looked at.

This variation's probably got more to do with the suitability of the pellets for each individual gun as anything else. Having said this I did go for the gun with the tightest test card, couldn't help myself.

So far it's proving to be an incredibly accurate gun. I've shot (indoors) several groups tighter than the test card, albeit at 50 yards rather than 50 m. Barrel dosen't really seem to need cleaning either, chrono indicates that the gun is very consistent, it's +/- 4 fps with slugs right from the tin.

In practical terms I can't fault it, though I have put LG100 wood on it as the new fore end was just too heavy and clumsy for me. I still find it a little fiddly to load but other than that quibble the thing is sublime.

I've just been and looked at the test card for my Steyr which is stapled inside the owners manual and it definatley says tested at 10mtrs with 7.9grain pellets
