    hi all,
I need a FT scope and thinking of:

    Hawke 8-32x56 SR Pro
    Falcon 10-50x60 Field Target
    MTC Viper 8-32x60

I can not afford over 400, so which one would you recommend for especially range finding beyond 30-35 yards precisely?

    thanks in advance

For me if I had to chose it would be the Falcon 10x50x60.

oh, I forgot to mention another option,

    that is Falcon T35x56

fixed zoom should be clear, but would it rangefind better or worse ? Any one tried T35 for FT?

    thanks

I'd be looking at the falcons, probably leaning to the 10-50 for flexibility. But i've only used the old t35 and the new 10-50 for a short amount of time. Out of new scopes I think they are the best option under £400 unless others have been released.

I've had MTC Viper 8-32x60 and used it for FT about a year. If you are serious about FT and your results, save yourself and look other direction. This scope might be nice to look at, but not nice to look thru. Image is rather soapy and tires eyes easily, let alone shooting at dusk.

I have a Hawke 8:32x56 on my AR20 and love it.
No problems with it and it's never let me down.
    Range finding is spot on.

Only thing is you will need a bigger wheel, the markings on the wheel that comes with it get cramped together after 45 yards as it's too small.
There is a 6" wheel available for £30. should you buy the hawke and it works perfect.

    Hope this helps.

    Jinx.

Having tried both, I would opt for a 2nd hand T35 @ £200 if you can find one and can handle fixed mag.
2nd choice would be New model (Silver) T50 @ £400 ish

I would not consider you other two options.

Next best bet in your budget is a 2nd hand Big Nikko or Big Bsa. @ £300 -400 ish

From your short list, definitely the Falcon, it will do the job reasonably well.
There are things that will do the job better if you're prepared to go second hand.

Your rather cutting off your nose to spite your face in your price range then, plenty of very good Big Nikkos around.

Or is that due to your location and only having a limited choice of "new" scopes?

hawke is the only option locally; friends over there for new scopes only :) they can't inspect a used one. besides I really don't feel comfortable with 2nd hand optics.

Go falcon then, probably T50 best bet for you?

    45 shots at 45 yards

Havn't used the Hawke/AR20 for a few days due to both work and weather.
Still holding the zero perfect though.
Target shot off the knee at a pellet trap.
    Crossman Premiers.

In response to your pm Tallguy, it's the SRpro reticle in mine mate.

That's one of the wheel close up.
You can see if the standard wheel is used, as it's a lot smaller, how cramped up the markings would be.
Should you go for the Hawke, you will need the larger wheel.
    No question.
