FT history of target ranges

    As the title really ...

    Just out of interest I'm trying to get and idea of how the target ranges evolved ... and in relation to what rifles/scopes pushed them to new limits.

    Particularly when did the max range move to 55 yards?

    it was 55 yards in 1989. That's as far back as I go.

    average ranger for a 25 + 5 course was about 35 yards though, as that's about as far as most could hit anything lol
    The + 5 were 25mm reducers, which were used as eliminators.
    Your main score was from the 25 full 45/50mm targets!

    Then the first 6.5-20 lueps and 100 series arrived and 55 became a bit less of a lottery. I still think main problem was lack of quality pellets at the time?
