OK, I understand what FFP scopes are and the effect on the ret when changing magnification.

Is there any other benefit other than this? Looking at a possible scope which is FFP, however chances are that once I got it set up, I wouldn't alter the mag from something like x8. It would be used for plinking etc and a bit of HFT.

    Your thoughts please folks???

None really, well not that i know of. In fact many prefer SFP scopes because of the less cluttered view.
You get consistent aim points on all mags with FFP but for hft you can't touch the mag so perhaps only useful for hunting.

If you don't change the magnification and it is 8x only then you won't see any difference.

BTW, once I tested a S&B FT with FFP and found that the parallax shift from temperature is exactly the same as on the SFP models. And on 50x magnification the crosshair was annoyingly thick.

    Thanks folks.
Pretty much the conclusion I had come to.
