Hi I use falcon T50 silver MK1 and I found really tricky to get the range right in dark places over 45 yards . Is there any technique which could help with that problem . If I drop the mag to 40x and range it is out few yards then it should be .

I would suggest you upgrade to a Falcon X50 or big Nikko, but as you have quite rightly said dropping the mag down will help even down to 32x I have done that in the past and been fairly accurate with the range finding.

    Hi.

    Welcome to FT ;)

When I had mine, I realised ranging near to far gave me the consistency needed to accurately range find. Also I ranged off frayed string wherever possible.

In the dark conditions I ranged by 'contrast'
So the best contrast = the range.

Dropping the mag helps 'find the target' then creep up the mag to find the best contrast - until it's too dark and the target disappears.

You won't be far away then.

There's no holy grail - just better.

I've since upgraded to big nikkos and currently have my "dream scope" Kahles and I still use the same system with all. (Just less often with my Kahles).

    All the best
    Emma

On 50x and if is darker day plus you shooting in the woods I drop down to 40x just to see the target better

Usually on end off sting or breaking paint on the target or anything which I can find a good picture on and is by the target

Especially as they are cheaper than a new big Nikko and include a side wheel.

I would agree, I “upgraded” to the x50 from the T50. Amazing the difference in image sharpness and light gathering! Very noticeable improvement.

I also tried a Nikko, but the x50 won it for me. It’s basically a poor man’s sightron...

    That’s your best option.

One person’s eyes may not suit a scope that someone else’s does.
