Thanks to everyone that came along to Springfield for the Essex Open, sponsored by the Airgun Centre. This is the 2nd year running that FT and HFT have shot alongside each other, bringing both disciplines together on the same course. A total of 66 shooters enjoyed the fine Autumn weather, the wind was as usual quite tricky and caught out even the best.

The overall winner after a close shoot off with Simon Martin was Barry Warren in AA, with a fine 37/40. 2nd in AA went to Dave Hatfield and 3rd to Simon Ayres. Simon Martin took 1st place in FT A grade. 2nd went to Glen Newman and 3rd to Steve Carter, after a 5 way shoot off. Mike Spraggett took 1st in FT B grade and Andy Barnes took 1st in C grade. 1st in HFT went to Colin Wilson with a fantastic 74/80, with an FT equivalent score of 36. 1st Lady went to Helen Carragher with a 35/40, 1st Springer went to Andy Pearson with a 29/40 and 1st Junior was Cal Tiquin, visiting from South Africa.

Hope you enjoyed the format and congratulations to all the winners of the £600 worth of vouchers from the Airgun Centre. Look forward to seeing you next year.

    Hi Vinny
Tugg continues to amaze us at Springfield with his outstanding results.
All that midnight practice is obviously paying dividends
His kit is not too far away from the kit used in FT except he can't twiddle his knob:D
It was a real shame that this event clashed but unfortunately our Winter league starts next week and the calendar is pretty full.
Next year we, Springfield and MAD, will try harder to plan better.
It was a great shoot enjoyed by all
    Cheers. Barry

    Thanks Mike
Just think ONE more target would have had you in the shoot-off for the overall win
Now that would have been awesome to witness
Glad you had a great day
    Cheers Barry

I know, as do my shooting partners and passengers on the way home! I didn't load the rifle on target 35, a 30 odd yard heartbreaking lesson to sort out my firing line routine :eek:o

    Thank you Barry and Springfield.
FT shooting has some interesting characters and the best people a person could ever meet.
Really liked the course and very different from the way we generally shoot in SA (Those black targets in the shade are pretty horrible, and you sure are stingy with those ''gimme's", Must be that Scottish fella..

Thanks to Springfield for a great shoot and for booking the fantastic weather! Well done Barry. Thanks to Stan and Roy also.

Anyone know whether the scores will be submitted for BFTA grading purposes?
