...continuing from "What Guns Do You Own Then " , for those of us who's wife does not shoot, and are clueless bewteen the value of an SMK and a Ripley AR5 or Walther Dominator...

WHATS THE BEST EXCUSE (& Lamest) YOU HAVE EVER TOLD THE MISSUS, ABOUT HER ENQUIRY ON-

    1. THE NUMBER OF GUNS YOU OWN AND/OR

    2. THE VALUE OF THEM, AND/OR

    3. WHATS YOUR ANNUAL SPEND ? ...from the household budget ?

    OR

    4. HOW DO YOU JUSTIFY A NEW PURCHASE, WHEN SHE SPOTS WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TRYING TO HIDE ?
    :D

Would like to hear your answers, and get some chuckles out of this thread ! :D

Divorsed now, but i would have thrown back, " Not as much as you spend on shoes and handbags".

Heard of a good trick, someone got a picture taken at a club, as if he was being presented with a rifle, then went home and said "Look what i won in the raffle".

Heard another one, he paid £1300 for a scope, but put £300 on the cheque stub.

She knows exactly what they're worth as she's normally there when I buy them and has been known to buy the odd scope, stock or titanium cylinder for me. My Mother and her parents on the other hand all know they're expensive but are too polite to ask! My Mum went mad when I told her my Walther was close to a grand, but luckily for me Walther gave me the other two!! The father in law thinks Leupold give scopes because Sparky blagged them!:D Being a keen photographer he knows how much good glass costs.

So for me the wife isn't the problem it's every other bugger!

Hi all, I told her I picked the Daystate mk3 up direct from the factory its cheaper that way.

The MK4 I got the shop to make me out a receipt for half the actual value, so far so good.
    Its te Fox in me.

All my purchases have been pretty well all up front, and "she that must be obeyed' does know about them.
But I have a mate at work who has a number of rifles. And instead of having to put up with the begging thats required to get finance approved hes says its far easier just to go out and buy the rifle and put up with the fight afterwards!!! At least that way he has the rifle!!

Never lie to the wife. Tell her that I'm going to buy whatever and it's going to cost £##.##. Usual response is "As long as you can afford it I don't mind". You should try it. When you do need to tell a porky they're more likely to believe you, not that I'd do such a thing;).

She has suspicions, but some of the cost is down to the kids now as they both shoot and need kit & upgrades:D

Tell them all the new purchases are second hand and are worth more than they cost! (And are therefore an investment)
Never have a joint account. (And if you do, buy the guns with cash)
Always knock 1/3rd to 1/2 off the actual price.
    Don't keep reciepts.
Tell them it's not yours, your just setting it up for your mate!!
And my favourite one, As a gardener and handyman I provide pest control services and told her the guns where bought by the business and help to offset my tax bill, therefore saving me money!!:)
