I have just found out that there will be a road closure that could well hinder people travelling to the UKAHFT National Round 5 at Rivi. The closure is fairly near the range and will stop you getting there easily.

The directions below will avoid the closure.

    Directions from J6 M61.

Turn off Junction 6 (M61) and follow the Bolton signs. You will pass the Reebok Stadium on your left.
Continue through the traffic lights and turn right at the final roundabout, following the Bolton signs. Continue along this road (A673 Chorley New Rd) and turn left at the first set of traffic lights.
This is the A58 Ring Rd. Stay on this road (a couple of miles) going through all the traffic lights and over the one roundabout. You will reach a junction with ASDA on your right. Turn left at this junction (A666 Blackburn Rd). At the second set of traffic lights (couple of miles) turn right onto the B6472 Darwin Rd (by a War memorial)..
Continue down Darwin Rd passing a Co-op on your left. Just past the Co-op turn left down Bromley Cross Rd (just by the Green Bengal Restaurant). Turn left at the T junction onto Chapeltown Rd (opposite the station, pub on right, school on left). Continue for around a mile on this road, passing under a railway bridge.
You will drop down a dip under the bridge and climb up the other side. The entrance to Turton Tower is on your left at the top.
Drive into the entrance through the stone columns and continue, passing the Tower Gates on your right.
Continue over the ornate railway bridge and turn left at the T junction (over the cattle grid). Park off the road as soon as you can and you are on the range. The range hut is to your right just over the brow of the hill.

    Directions from J15 M60.

Leave the M60 (J15) following the Bolton signs. Continue to follow the Bolton A666 signs onto a dual carriageway (St. Peters Way). Follow this road for a few miles and then continue at the first set of traffic lights. (3 Speed camera s on this road). Keep on the A666 Blackburn Rd through the series of lights.
You will reach a traffic light junction with ASDA on your left. Continue through this junction passing through another set of lights within a couple of hundred yards. Continue along the A666 until the next traffic light junction (couple of miles) where you will turn right onto the B6472 Darwin Rd (by a War Memorial).

Should anything change I will alter this thread. I will also try to get the directions on the Rivi site altered.

Have they fixed the road from the Tower up to your grounds or is it still a collection of potholes Ray?

    Hi Chris,
The road isn't too bad as it was redone a little while ago and the holes aren't as deep.:D

The bit across the bridge has to be taken carefully though as a few holes have developed.
    Much better than it was.

    Hi Dave,
You are O.K. from that direction.

They are closing Turton Road which runs up to the railway bridge at Bromley Cross Station. The directions on Rivi's site use this route

The routes above come in from the Blackburn Road side and avoid the closure.

If "Rose" Hudson can get up the track (as he does every week) in his lowered Focus, I would imagine any vehicle can get up the track. Just keep a look-out for the minefields on your right as you cross the "Bridge of Doom."
