As we all know technology is day by day is getting advanced to such a level that one needs to have good IT skills these days to keep up to date this to use complicated equipment I.e smart phones etc...

However for the FT world Rowan Engineering is currently near completion of a (DWS) Digital Wheel Device. So all those shooter who maybe cant their rifles this device will show you exactly how much you are canting and not only that it can amazingly show typical information like distance, elevation this being the most important information for a precise shot.

This device can also show the range of target, range compensated value, inclination, temperature and shot number and amazingly the wind direction. The warnings like canting will display a series of LED display lights.

This information held on the device can be transferred by bluetooth for analysis this for pre competition training.

Rowan engineering is also looking at a barrel accessory that will measure the velocity of each shot! And barrel harmonics.

It's obvious this device will not be able to be used at competitions but I believe it is a amazing device for pre-comp training sessions.

Some views from the top shooters on this device would be interesting. I predict the next new gadget in years to come will probably be a Apple device alike Siri device for the rifle....??

    Who knows?!?!

as far as its understood, their is realy no reason why it cannot be used in comps, as no rules are broken.

Are you sure? This device has range finding capabilities...

As confirmed by Rowan many others features are in the pipe line, however this product has been demonstrated to BFTA and it has been approved as it falls within the rules. Current design does not read the range of target. :)

Haha. Gary I suggest you stick to the abacus as this device is way beyond your capabilities to use. ;)

So the 36 1 yards in the picture doesnt mean the targets 36.1 yards away then?

Dont worry just because it falls within this weeks bfta rules dont mean it will next weeks

It reads the position of the scope wheel. all this device does it replace the tape on your wheel

I build something very similar 5 years ago for my A level electronic project. It does not make your range findning any more or less accurate, its a digital read out thats all

This device must work on many sensors being that it can read the wind and temp .

Can't see any mention of wind reading on the rowan website?

Reading the wheel is ultimately pointless, a tape will do the same job. It does not improve the accuracy of range finding.

A normal bubble spirit level will be much more accurate than a Accelerometers/gyro

I would like to see a servo controlling the turrets and automatically setting them for you, that would be cool in my eyes and not that hard to add.

And I did read something about the device automatically calibrating your scope depending on temperature.. but this just sounds like a pain in the arse to set up... I can't see that working too well.

Well done to them for trying to push FT but I can't see it taking off.

I Know, I was there when it was presented for inspection, all it does is show everything digitally, that can already be read manually.

When you say everything that also includes wind and temperate.? Having all this windage, canting, inclination, temp etc, compact into one device that can be transferred via bluetooth for analysis is very efficient and time saving in my opinion.

In spite of the innovating technique, the weak link of this chain will be always the shooter...
