Yes shot some amazing groups indoors with them, re-zero'd for them (indoors), learnt the new aim points (indoors). Then I got them outdoors in the wind and the were rubbish as there was no consistancy or predictability in the wind. So now I use them through my pistol as it's short distance and the pellets were free.

tried them bob... tried everything, cleaning the gun till it squeeked, cleaning them even. Perfect still day and I just could not get them to group... even at 25 yds. Indoors I couldn't get them to group either. Fliers out to an inch at least. Got better with smaller head sizes.

Mine were the ones with the tails with little lines on them...

Tried two different head sizes through the Mk3 and compared them to a group done with JSBs. 10 shots at 35 yards with a gentle breeze.
My Mk3 didn't like them at all.

    2x Mk3 Ftrs
    Grand Prix

    Steyr
    LG110

    AA
    TX200HC

All performed better with JSBs

I've tried Defiants and Penetrators. Superb quality and consistency. Get the right size in the right rifle and they can be very accurate in calm or indoor conditions. However, in a decent breeze the wheels fell off. Groups were simply not predictable enough and nowhere near as good as either light or mid weight JSB Diabolo pellets.
I have seen them go fantastically well, in all conditions, through BSA barrels though. It's a shame all my rifles have Lothar Walther barrels.
I'd dearly love to see PAX produce some diabolo pellets at the quality and consistency standards that their lead pellets achieve. Such a shame that it isn't going to happen.:(

Sorry Bob if you've got any of those prototypes lying around in batches of a few thousand I will have em. Tried the production ones in all sizes in all conditions including indoor at 55yds before and after a very thorough barrel clean in four different Daystates from CRX to Timberwolf. They were crap, not a patch on what I use, Ryan's LP50 likes em as did my Desert Eagle/S&W :eek::eek::eek::eek: :shot:

    BOB,

I set my MK3 up for the 08 season to use the Defiants.

Cleaned the barrel with VP90, put 300 down the barrel, then sorted out the best size.

I,m not a top shot, but my scores went from mid/low 50's, too, low 50's/high 40's, lucky i'm not a trophy hunter.

I used them for the whole UKAHFT season, in order to give them a fair trial, and my conclusion is that.

On a calm day they are great, as soon as there is any sort of wind, i could see them moving of target once they got to around 38/40 yards.

would like to add my thoughts to this.
I have used them for about 6 months. I shoot Ft and used the small head size and found them great in still conditions, but in a wind they moved along way over typical FT distances. I would say they are as good as any pellet upto 40 yds, just wish they'd make some 8.4 grain.

so there not really new just the old daystate design?

(i can't help but wonder why people would request them?) :D

and i have tried all sizes

not indoors though, why bother when i only shoot outside? :D

i cleaned the barrel, tried a few hundred and grouped averagely, not as good as JSBs in my ev2 or springers

the daystates, did the same as above

would not group within 3" at 50 yards

Glad I've just ordered another 25k JSB's then. Bob I've bought about 200k pellets this year and I know of many others who've bought about the same or more. If PAX could do a diablo shaped pellet that is as consistant as the ones they currently make it'd be much more popular with FT/HFT shooters worldwide I reckon. I don't know what changed between the prototype ones I tried at Shepreth last summer and the production ones but the difference in performance was massive.
