First round of the CSFTA Winter League kicks off with a little ferry trip to the Isle of Wight.

Location is as normal, lets hope the weather is Autumnal rather than monsoon.

    Tea and Coffee available.

Currently only the rounds 1 to 4 dates have been set as not sure which other clubs may be holding rounds.

Bugger, fancied a trip to IOW but just seen this clashes with ETL Essex 50.

etl being one of the best grounds in the country for me.

    Maybe next winter the IOW?

With only 3 weeks to go its been a busy day today. Weather nice but a wood buring sessions needed to clear all the dead/fallen branches that have dropped over the Summer (I think we had one ).

Completed about 3/4 of the course with what we think is a good mixture. Had to reign in some of the proposed target positions by the members. They looked close to maximum visually but said tape measure told a different story. Example being one target visually about 50yds but when you are still over 10yds short and the tape measure is at 170ft I think it might be a bit far.

Trying to mix up the layout so there is variety of wind direct and elevation and the course weaves its way around our little copse. All the gate locations we are trying to ensure they are as level as possible. Aiming to have a course that is challenging for all grades.

Will be setting the zero check boards out at 25, 35,45,50 and 55yds.

Due to a previous commitment (someones wedding  ) spent today at the club getting as much done as possible before hitting it again tomorrow afternoon for a few final hours. All targets sprayed(yellow or white on alternate lanes) and greased. New strings attached ready to pull out Sunday morning.

The ground is currently damp underfoot in the copse where a majority of the course is, and we have been removing and cleaning up most of the dead fall (incinerator been going over a few weekend) and last night brought a few more it seems :( . The field is OK for parking (sandy soil) and the forecast I hope is correct with no rain for Sunday just cloud.

We are intending to put a few tarpaulins up amongst the trees to give some sort of cover just in case. I will give another update tomorrow when I get back, but the course is looking interesting with a few changes of direction

Now all I need to do is shift my blocked sinuses and I will be all well and good for Sunday.

Ground conditions are good for the parking in the field provided of course no monsoon tonight.

Forecast if dry but cloudy tomorrow with light winds it seems according to the forecasters.

See you all in the morning.
