I know I am just a newbie, but it burns my brain that most of the threads about target shooting on here seem to be by steyr owners complaining about their rifles. If i was going to invest a large chunk of cash for one of these fine pieces of engineering, i would expect it to be accurate straight out of the box. or that just wishful thinking?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

The other rifle owners can't afford internet as they are having to pay for their rifles to be repaired as they dont work properly. :D

    Gilly's never happy

Target shooters are never happy! They are only ever happy when complaining, as the reigning World FT champ, miserable sod!
    Steyrs rule!

Every gun has its foibles and plenty of owners (myself inc) like fiddling to the guns detriment. All part of the fun.
The steyrs I've shot have been the most accurate rifles I've shot but I'm not keen on the trigger or feel of the rifle.
Like most guns in ft they were first designed to work in nice warm rooms at 10m. It's understandable that they might need some getting to work in the extremes of conditions at 50m.

As Rob says most people try to "improve" (for the want of a better word) their rifles and end up making them worse!
But yes you are right Steyrs are crap :p

All guns have pros and cons. People with either love or hate a gun dependent on their experience. To be honest most guns outshoot the shooter so it is a case of finding one that YOU like. Trying different guns at your local club is a good idea (most members will let you have a go with their gun).

I started shooting with a steyr and after trying other guns have gone back to a steyr, reason being it fits me better than any other gun. It's no more or less accurate off a bench but if a gun is not ultra comfortable in the positions you need to be in to shoot, it will cost you points.

Steyrs do have reliablity issues as do most guns and they will usually be highlighted on forums because people will complain about it. However with most guns there will be someone around who can help you get it right.

There are a lot of Steyrs out there, so you will hear of problems usually self induced.
If its working dont fix it, comes to mind.
    Im very pleased with mine.:)

Steyr is the most reliable airgun with a top service and the only one with factory information how to maintain and repair it, there are so many post regarding it because probably is the most sold.

Out of the box you can t find better, it s difficult to shoot but that part it s not the gun fault.

Conor I was happy whilst shaking your hand and taking your
title off you:). Happy days. Xx
Any ways all air rifles are good when prepared correctly by their loving owners.
Its the air rifle manufactures that are crap in the first place.

I know that but the tread is regarding an accurate rifle out of the box.

I'm almost sure that even a Daystate can be consistent after a tune by Jon. :D
