Early March will see the publication of the first edition of "CompAir", an online digital magazine dedicated to air powered competition shooting.

It will cover just about everything of interest to those of us who enjoy shooting competitively, from news and reports on the latest shoots, hints and tips on how to improve your scores and gain the extra few vital points that can make the difference between taking home some silverware or going home with an average score, reviews of the latest gear that is of interest to the competition shooter, previews of the major shoots in the various calendars (including a few gentle reminders to help ensure you get your entry in on time and don't miss out on all the action!), and most importantly YOUR views and comments about where your sport is today and where it is going tomorrow - no punches pulled, we'll be covering the good, the bad and if needs be, the downright ugly that makes up air rifle competition today.

In order to make CompAir of interest to as many of the FT and HFT community as possible we need to hear from those of you who fancy yourselves as reporters who would like to keep us posted on what's going on in your part of the country, including results and photos from your local clubs and shoots, news and rumours; everything in fact that you feel needs to be told. Being based down here on the South Coast, we're especially keen to hear from budding hacks in East Anglia, the Midlands, Wales, the North of England, and of course, Scotland.

If that sounds interesting to you, then we'd love to hear from you by PM.

    Cheers

    Rob

Various buttons have now been pressed and levers pulled, and we are now able to confirm that the debut edition of Compare will roll off of the digital presses on Friday 18 March.

We are in the process of not only putting the magazine together, but also the website where you will be able to download it from - watch this space for more info on that over the next few weeks.

Whether you shoot FT or HFT, we're very keen to hear from anyone who would like to send in results, photos, and/or reports for shoots in their area - we are both based down here on the South Coast and whilst we do put in a reasonable number of miles competing in our chosen discipline, we can only be in one place each weekend.

Just drop me a PM and we can have a chat...... :)

    Compair

    Morning Rob

Very much looking forward to the publication, hope people will try and bring a good variety of information, articles and piccies (most important).

Thanks for putting this together and hopefully it brings the HFT and FT communities closer together.

    Regards

    John

Excellent, looking forward to this. Will the downloadable version be PDF or some other format (e.g. for e-readers)?

It's not going to be a PDF, it's far more fun than that. And to be honest we're only really scratching the surface in the first issues of what can be done... but we've got a growing team on board, and a lot of avenues to follow. In tech terms, it's a revolution more than an evolution, even though to the reader at first it may feel just like the latter.

Editorial wise it's actually a case at the moment of just getting through all the good ideas that we've had or had in, so we're really hoping that it's a success that at least supports itself and the time it takes to produce. It's certainly the best chance I think the sports have had of having a dedicated magazine written from inside the sports, and I genuinely hope we can make it work for the sports, because we think they definitely deserve to have the spotlight placed on them.

    @RobF,

Will this only be for the UK?
Will activities in other countries also be considered/included?

    Cheers

More the merrier! We've already got articles from abroad coming in, and I'll be doing a report on the worlds in Portugal later in the year. I'm sure readers would be interested in articles showing the scope of the sport and how it's conducted from all over the world... :)

"More fun" than a PDF? Not a native app with DRM'd content, I hope. :p

As you know the first issue of CompAir was scheduled for release for today. However due to the overwhelming response we've had we have had to increase the scale of the project or else we would be launching a product we simply wouldn't be happy with. So in order to give the project the time it deserves there will be a delay before we can get the first issue out. We're sorry that's a dissapointing start to the project, but because of the effort so many have put into it so far, we want to make sure this is a good as it can be from the off.
