Hi guys I have just received my nice shiny new Challenge FT. I am in the process of adjusting everything to fit me. It is advertised as having a dry firing facility to aid in trigger setup. I am not able to find any mention of this in the manual. Could anyone shed some light on this for me. TIA

They work so == pull back the cocking lever fully untill it clicks, now move the lever as if going to close, BUT dont close !!!! leave open about 15mm.
Press your trigger it should just click, now rinse and repeat.:)

Handy function, but if used excessively can leave a burr on the hammer.

I have checked my booklet again and I am not able to see the function mentioned in it. On Page 58 it is the first page of the French part and Page 44 it is Assembly/Disassembly in English. Thanks for putting up the description on how it works.
Another Question in all the pictures I have seen of the Challenge FT it has a Scope Riser Rail. Is this a standard part of the new rifle.

This is page 58 in the online Challenge manual available to download in pdf format direct from the Steyr website.
Their description isnt great, Lavant_Lads is better!

Wrong manual... although essentially the same gun. Did you buy it new, and where did you buy it?

Yes I did buy it new. Through my local dealer. They do not have a account with Steyr so he got it through a dealer he knows who does.

For what it's worth, I used to train a lot on the gun dry firing, resulting in breaking two strikers within a few years. I have heard that this mechanism was designed for the 10m version and is overpowered by 12ftlb rifles. My experience seems to bear this out. I do not dry fire anymore!

On my first LG100s in the manual the dry firing instructions had a thick black line drawn through it
So I took that as it should not be applicable to the 12ftlb version
