The sidewheel cap on the 6500 is very thin, so it is easy for it to collapse onto the non-turning collar if A grubscrewed sidewheel is used. It is also only held by two very small brass screws, so it can develop play - as I found out using a traditional overfit sidewheel.

Jon Harris removed the small sidewheel and fitted a collet on the inner spindle, making a very secure clamping system for me. Worked a treat. Try contacting him.

IIRC it cost me about £70. I sent him the scope as he had not done one before.

Hi Tony, apologies. Yes, the sticker comes off. There are a couple of very small screws underneath holding on the original small parallax wheel, which is why a large wheel works loose. Once the screws are removed you can take the parallax wheel off to access the spindle that drives the focus mechanism.

I did look on this site at there scope wheels but some of the other members seem to fill that putting a grub screw sidewheel on exsisting side wheel could deform exsisting sidewheel but thanks anyway
