    Ok... assume I'm an idiot.

I'm not sure I'm booked into an event I think I am but cannot remember. I'm on holiday the week before and I'm away from a computer. I have my mobile. I can't remember if I'm booked in but want to cancel. I go to the BFTA website.

    All good so far?

I go to the BFTA page and see there's some instructions on how to cancel. Brilliant. I'll follow them.

The instructions say " go to your account and select the event you wish to cancel and hit the cancel button "

I go to my account and it's saying I'm not booked into the event so there is no cancel button.

I've followed the exact instructions the BFTA says to do and will then be sanctioned.

Kafkaesque. How can you cancel an event the system tells you aren't booked into? Why would I go looking elsewhere for a list of names for an event that the system says I'm not booked into?

But if you are signed in on your mobile the events that you have booked in for do appear in your Account.

It says to cancel click on the View/Edit button and then on the cancel button.

Where does the site say this " go to your account and select the event you wish to cancel and hit the cancel button "?

    They don't Martin.

Once you've closed the event they are not in your account. They have gone.

When I went to cancel GP 4 it was not there, GP5 was. But because it was closed GP4 was not available to cancel.

Now I get you :) This is one of the changes I want to make at the meeting but I'm kinda hopeful the payment system would stop most of what I'm seeing but yes that's on my list and there has to be a cut-off point otherwise all I'm going to see is a load of CANCELS on a Sunday morning when it's raining.

Martin, Johnathan Croker cancellation was done by myself via Text for Gp 3 and 4, both were last minute changes due to Work.
Please remove him from gp3 and 4.

I book in 3 or 5 for each Gp, it would be much easier to be able to cancel 1 of the names as apposed to the whole lot.
ie with Am session full for gp5, I am not going to risk cancelling all bookings, then perhaps not being able to re book the rest of us in Am for say Bisley if 1 or 2 have late change of plans.

Then can you at least let myself and Brian know as we are the ones that sort the lists/records as at least then there will be a record of it.

Cancelling individuals will be a new feature I will propose at the BFTA meeting but it needs work.

if my maths is correct...that is 37 no shows this year already.

It's almost like pre-pay via the website is an agenda item at the next BFTA meeting... (again)

Either that or you have to pay for the GP you missed at the next one before you can shoot. That way it's a wake up call to repeat offenders and Clubs/BFTA don't lose money. Effectively when you book a place you are buying that place it's just that you are pledging the money at the shoot.
