Righto, this might need a bit of tweaking, but I thought it might be of interest.
The BFTA Grading Officer produces what's called the "rolling 20". This is the document that generates your official BFTA grade and is what can be seen on the BFTA website under the grades page.
In total, there are around 2500 names, of which many have BFTA numbers but have never competed in a BFTA event so do not have an official BFTA grade.
I've deleted all of these, and anyone who does not yet have 20 BFTA scores.
This leaves 268 shooters who have a current BFTA grade defined by a full 20 BFTA scores.
I've shown these below from highest percentage down.
It might give something to discuss.
If your name does not appear on the list, it is probably because you do not have 20 scores recorded with the grading officer.

Any reason why you only chose rolling 20? as apposed to say a shooter with 10?

    a couple of questions

When is the rolling 20 taken from?

and, if you previously had a grade and you don't appear on the rolling 20, what grade do you shoot in now?

    cheers

Just to try and make it as fair as possible.
Otherwise someone who has shot 1 comp and got 100% is the best shot in the country?
Your BFTA grade is based on your last 20 BFTA shoots

the rolling 20 is based on your own last 20 BFTA graded shoots.
So the time frame is different for everyone.

I don't know the answer to your other question.

    Grades

    Very interesting.
Do these grades include 2010/2011 winter league scores?
    Thanks

Having aquired 18 scores so far, I'm one of the unfortunates that will be resigned to the cutting room floor.
Does this mean I won't be able to check on my previous averages on the BFTA website? (I ask this because my averages are still there at the moment)
And someone must have the wisdom to tell us what grade we now shoot in ?

    Hi,

the averages may include WL scores it depends on whether your region has submitted them to the Grading Officer.

Here, Phil has pulled off only those who have submitted 20 or more scores from BFTA/WL shoots.

You don't need 20 shoots to get a grade.

The Grading list will contine to be updated each month but this doesn't change your BFTA grade. On the list you will see two grades, the one you started the WL on (your BFTA grade) and the grade that your present average would be graded at. Then on the 31st of March 2011 your present average will become your new BFTA grade. This will be your grade for the entire summer season. It will change, or not, after the Euros in September. So the process is your grade can change only twice a year; at the end of March and after the Euros

    Shaun :)

It depends if your region submits it's wl scores for grading. Some do, some don't. You'll need to check with your rep.

Your BFTA grade and percentage hasn't disappeared.
If you go to the BFTA site and the grading page, everyone who has a BFTA number and has shot at least one BFTA event has a grade.
    That isnot changing.

This is just a bit of fun to see who is 'top shot'

I made a decision to include only people who have the maximum 20 scores.

    Interesting...

A bit skewed by regional scores being lead by the top shots of that region, as a 100% regional score means all those who attended that shoot had their % based around you... but very interesting all the same.

if you click on the column name, it will have an arrow to allow you to sort by that column...

cheers for that, massages the old ego nicely :D

It looked like you had binned anyone without a current rolling 20 from your chosen time period, my misunderstandig

everyone's grade is still there, you are just looking at selected shooters with 20 recent BFTA graded entries

Yeah, the data can be cut in a lot of ways and you can always criticise the way chosen, it will never be perfect, particularly when some regions submit their WL scores for grading and some don't.

I thought it would be interesting to stick a stake in the ground and see who came out top.
I don't think many will argue with the top 20 (ish)?

As I've managed to get you up to 6th, does this mean I get a STB badge? :D

Yeh, you can always pick the bones out of stats... it's interesing how they stack up though...

Badge in post (assuming pm in inbox with address... it might have been bigger if you'd got me in top 5 :D)

Maybe this year Rob we need some southern shooters higher up the racks, but 6th is dame good for a Shireling.
