BFTA GP3: WAFTA: Tondu
Directions to Tondu FTC
Leave the M4 at junction 36 (Bridgend and Sarn Park Services)
If travelling westward, stay in outer lane on slip road and at the roundabout at the top follow signs for services and Maesteg, this will take you across a bridge over the motorway to a second roundabout.
Take the first exit signed for Maesteg and Services (be careful as what appears to be the first exit is no-entry and is where the exit ramp from the eastbound carriageway of the motorway meets the roundabout)
If travelling eastward, follow the exit ramp straight up to the roundabout at the top, do not turn left into the services, and take the first exit, signposted for Maesteg.
You will now find yourselves on a dual carriageway.
Go straight through the traffic lights at the turning for the services and continue down the hill, be careful as the speed limit is 50 and the police do sometimes put a camera van on this stretch!
At the bottom of the hill, are more traffic lights just before a roundabout. You need to get into the right hand lane approaching the roundabout as the left lane becomes left turn only.
Go straight across roundabout (2nd exit).
Some three-quarters of a mile along this road it bends to the left by a restaurant called The Fountaine and snakes its way up a hill. At the top of the hill it levels out and follows a ridge.
Some 200 yards along the road you will see a farm shop on the left. Directly opposite this is a farm gate on the right. This is the entrance to Tondu FTC. Go through the gate (please close behind you!) and follow the track down. The track is a bit bumpy but is no problem for normal cars if taken slowly. Go through 2nd gate and parking is available either ahead or up slope to the right. Attendants should be advising cars where to park to make best use of space, but remember this is a quarry so drive slowly.
Cf 32 0 HA is a paostcode that will also get you to Tondu.
Or satnav co-ordinates Latitude W3.37'29(3.62477) Longitude N51.31'56(51.53241) or google WAFTA Shoot Directions (GPS)
Just remembering last year, there was live stock on the track, so take it easy... beligerant gits wouldn't move out the middle of the road, and I wasn't going to argue with them... and there were some cows as well
Last year? That was 2008!
As it happens, the cows have not been put in this winter so hopefully come end of May they will still be missing and thus the road should be clear of obsticles, if still bumpy
of course it was, you had the GP somewhere else last year... doh.
Do we know when the on-line booking should be up for GP3 Tondu?
it says should be live on 18th April!!!
dunno... im sure steve will be along soon... if not i'll nudge him
good news is that i can make the worlds
the weddings off?
Or they have finally told you they found you on a street corner so need to be there? Family only
the wedding is still on, just not on that weekend
Nice one Rob, dedication to the sport
And I would not bet against the wedding present having "made in Hungary" on it?
well she's lucky she's not getting an expired ticket to budapest, so anything after that must be a bonus surely?
Online booking for GP3 will go live today about tea time.
I am just updating the log ons to co-ordinate with the latest grading lists and doing a bit of maintenence
cool, cheers steve for your hard work
Anyone have a post code for locating near by accomodation & directions or GPS co-ordinates ?
See the post in the calander section about Gp 3.
Perhaps the treads need to be merged Rob?
