Thanks to all the guys at Millride for their hard work today.

    Shaun

There was a lot of debate today about no shows.

    For information

We had 182 register for GP1 and 159 shoot the event.

List the no shows on the forum along with results, for whatever reason valid or not.

Thanks to all involved in the shoot today, good course with some testing long and high targets, really enjoyed it.

Shame about the no shows, I guess there will be some genuine reasons, but they missed a good one.

    Cheers all

    Finish time?

I can't recall what time it finished but Jon wrote the times down.

I left about 755pm and there was still plenty of workers on the course - well done to the Millriders! :)

Thanks Shaun, Sam & the Millride Marshalls for all your efforts yesterday. Your job was not helped however by the 22 people who decided to 'no-show' for whatever reason. Something needs to change or else it could be a very long season!

    Thoughts:
1, Take payment for the shoot up-front at time of booking - it's only a tenner but it may make the casual shooter think twice about committing.

2, Operate a yellow card / red card system, where-by anyone who cancels less than 48 hours before-hand or no-shows on the day gets a yellow card. Do it again in the same season and they're out for the rest of the GP's that year - Red Card.

3, (perhaps in conjunction with 1 & 2) Operate two pre-booked, 50 shooter, shot-gun starts at 9am & midday with a third 'turn-up and shoot' feed-on at 3pm (registration to close at say 1pm to give an idea of numbers and chance to squad them). This would still allow the committed GP shooters on, whilst also giving the local or one-off competitor a chance to shoot the course. Finally, it would mean the BFTA can still say that "it will never turn any shooter away on the day".

See you all at GP2 anyway.

Ps. a quick 'plug' for ETL who are holding a 'mini-mayhem' shoot this coming Sunday...a prelude to Germany....?? ;)

I agree with this idea. However rather than give the organisers the extra head ache of taking payment up front with all the logistics that goes with it, just make the no shows pay double at their next GP entry. This along side the yellow & red card system should make people think twice about no shows.
    By the way-
Thanks to Shaun, Sam and all the Millride organisers for doing a great job.
And thanks to Pete and Mick for being great fun shooting companions.
    Cheers
    JJ

Quick question - anyone find a bright blue MEC/Contra cross-shaped tool? (small and I lost it somewhere, just annoying as I only bought it recently to replace the other one I lost!). Has one flat screwdriver and 3 allen bolts. Possibly by the portaloos.

The next one is going to get a hole drilled through it and attach to my clicks-card lanyard.

It was the final kicking after the wind and I later found the regulator wasn't working which made it all the more confusing but at least I know now why the elevations were all to heck.

    Thanks
    Neil

    Session 1 3hrs 31 mins
3 to a lane plus one feed on.
    Start 9.02 Finish 12.33

    Session 2 3hrs exactly
In pairs plus feed on lane. There were 3 lots of threes.
    Start 12.59 Finish 16.29 Quickest 2hrs 23mins at 15.22hrs

    Session 3 3hrs 3 mins
    In pairs
    Start 16.41 Finish 19.44 Quickest 2hrs 16 mins at 18.57hrs

Session 3 was delayed by session 2 due to the two that wrongfully went three to a lane. Thanks

    Hi Jon,
I was one of those people, apparently. I reported to lane 7 as instructed on my card, presumably the problem was more to do with people who didn't attend? If the marshals had made me aware of another 3 group the issue could have been easily solved?

My first gp for quite a while, really enjoyed the course & the sloping shooting positions really made you work for the targets. Thanks to Shaun for accepting my late booking.
The wait for S3 was a pain, shouldn't have had any groups of 3 in S2 before it imho, as the whole session was only going to be as fast as the groups of 3.

Tbh I don't see why some shooters like myself ended up without partners, presumably the other shooters arrived and booked in otherwise it would have been spotted? Did shooters simply not report to their lanes in s2?

And a great course by the way!
