As my long standing HW77K project is over i got straight on with the next one... this one will be a good deal quicker as the base gun is brand new and i won't be sending it away for any work done.:)
When i sold my Steyr last year i had a spare silver scope with no rifle to put it on, i could have sold the scope but where's the fun in that? Weihrauch had just recently launched the Nickel plated 97K and it was the answer i'd been looking for, buy one, fit a tuning kit, Rowan alloy setback trigger blade, and black and grey laminate stock...sorted!
The guns been bought and fettled and last week i started work on the stock.:D

Done quite a bit more since those were taken, it's had a lot more shaping done and is ready for an alloy spacer added to the pistol grip.:D

I like the steely grey look of the material - what actually is it? A special sort of plywood?

I gave up looking for any over here, even tried sourcing some beech veneer to laminate my own, waste of time too...
I was tempted to buy one from the states but heard Warren from Anston FTC was getting a hold of some, so i bought one off him.:)

Nice work there:), but working with grey laminate makes some awful dust. It looks like you're working outside, sensible.

I do all cutting and shaping in the garden now.

Here's one I made a couple of years ago and there is still dust to be found in the garage:eek::D

Personally i don't mind the silencer being blued steel... i think it contrasts nicely with the standard black plastic stock, and on mine the scope mount will be black and the stock too...:D

That's really impressive work. I can get laminate blanks very reasonably over here in the US. I'm inspired to give it a go. Can you share what kind of tools you use for the various stages, especially the shaping, curves and carving? Thanks!
