    Hi everyone, question for all.

What has been your best air rifle bargain or biggest, most expensive mistake?

Biggest bargain I’ve had was a swap of my FX Wildcat for a Taipan Mutant, what a Rifle that Taipan is. Unfortunately not been used much for a while due to the illness I had. Biggest mistake I made was buying a Daystate Renegade, bought on a spur of the moment, sold shortly after.

Never heard of taipan, are they mainly for hunting or can they be used for all aspects?

My biggest bargain and first purchase is the BSA Scorpion RS Platinum off the "Dob" (Richard Woods)
I am so happy with the gun and hope that I learn to shoot as good as he does now.

...or really £485 as it came with Rowan silencer adaptor which I sold for £15.

Biggest mistake was a brand new BSA R10. It grouped like a shotgun.

Biggest bargain. The same BSA R10, it was so bad, that everyone tried to help so much by giving every sort of shooting advise as everyone blames the shooter, that when I shot with a good rifle, I was actually pretty good!

Over the years I've had a bunch of lucky buys,
    S200mk1 only gave 50quid for...

A bushnell elite fixed10mag for about 60quid iirc.

Nowadays, I get donated lots of really intresting stuff.

A number of manufacturers help me,by supplying actions from scrap parts too.

I try and repay there kindness, I've given stuff away to youngsters and those who need a little help.

Good karma goes a long way

My biggest bargain by far was my Steyr LP10 pistol, bought from a 10M shooter who was having to pack in the sport due to injury. I paid him £700, but it came with:
    2 standard cylinders
    1 short cylinder
    Standard Steyr large grip
    XL Rink grip
    Combro + spare batteries
    Steyr wide trigger blade
    Steyr standard trigger blade
    4 Steyr barrel shroud weights
    Aluminium flight case
    200+ 10M target cards
    Eagle Eye scoring gauge
    Gehmann pellet sorter tray/case

The Rink grip was too large for me so I sold that, and the short cylinder, and the Combro as I already had one.
So the pistol plus the other extras cost me about £550 :D

If I'd been a size 10 he'd have also thrown in a pair of posh flat-soled shooting boots.

Oh yes and I forgot the 3 tins of R10.

Worst mistake I made was buy an FTP900 when they were first released. They're good now but this 2013 one was a dog.
Best bargain was an Anschutz 2002 for £400 from a disgruntled owner who hadn't set it up right so consequently couldn't hit a thing with it...:D

Best bargain was an SMK P700 pistol - it was so much fun for so little money, huge shot count and vey accurate, it had no right to be such good value.

Worst buy was an FX Impact, really struggled to get it working properly and the mag feeding was terrible, a true lemon at caviar price.

Worst buy was when I brought a Nikko target master when I meant to buy a big Nikko diamond

    Best bargain...
1919 BSA Light Pattern that I part exchanged a Q-tec mod and some cash for.

    Biggest mistake...
1994 Rapid 7 that I still can't get set up right. Haven't even looked at it for 9 months!

    Most expensive mistake

Selling my min 300SU with box and papers for £300

    Most expensive purchase

    My March

Biggest bargain was from a 10m shooter giving up on a gun trading site... Anschutz 2002, 2020 Centra rear sight, Centra adjustable iris foresight, multiple colour and polarising iris, simple iris, original sights, box, 10,000 pellets, targets, holders, champion olympic glasses, travel case, 12 or 15L cylinder (cant remember which), boots, stretchers (he offered me glove trousers and jacket but he was a man mountain)... all for £800... and it was all mint.

Best bargain was my mint (at the time) 1973 FWB 300s with the original box and all the paperwork, £300 and still my favorite gun.
Biggest mistake was a early BSA Goldstar .22 single shot Friday afternoon special. Couldn't hit a elephant at 5 yrds I soon traded it in for a HW 100 KT .22 that is still going strong, brilliant gun.

I've had a couple of bargains from Freeads. Couple of TX200's and HW77/97k for £80-£120. Best bargain was a HW95 for £120 that came in a Venom bag, I've been offered £80 for the bag.
Worst mistake is my 9015. Had it at the right price but should have learnt my lesson with the 8002 I had. Great when it's working but temperamental and unreliable to say the least.
