    How pathetic are AirgunBBS ?

A chap had a Pro Sport for sale on there with a scope and a load of other gear.. Now as I just don't want any more gear but do fancy a go with a springer I posted....

Hi I am interested in the gu but I do not need all the gear.. Please PM me your best price for just the gun please..

Chap replied that the kit was part of the package as his mate was selling up..

So I posted.. Fair enough mate but as I dont need or want the gear I will withdraw.. Good luck with the sale ..

So I have been banned for breaking the sales forum rules !!

Sorry but I find this ridiculous !

Am I missing something ? Have I commited a crime ? Has anyone else had this happen ?

Wow, that's a bit harsh! Very surprised at them for banning you. I do like the BBS but I hear stories similar to this sometimes. Hope you get it sorted

    Forum

I met a lot of the guys from that forum at the weekend, at a Springer Festival (Boinger Bash) in Nuneaton.
They seemed a very nice group of enthusiastic air gunners.
The forum however, does have a reputation for banning people indiscriminately.

I've just registered with the Forum, to maintain links I made at Nuneaton.
Some of the people I met at Nuneaton are also from this Forum. :)

If they ban me, for whatever reason, I will not return :D

What a total over reaction! If your nerves are that bad that a simple suggestion of negotiation tips you over the edge then perhaps you should try knitting instead of shooting.........LOL

    That does seem harsh.

They have a lot of users on there and a set of rules.... if you break the rules, the mods will take action with impunity.

It's pretty simple, don't break the rules and you won't get your wrists slapped.

The worst thing you can do is go off on a rant about it afterwards on the BBS or other forums that the mods on the BBS have access to ;)

The best thing you can do is drop a Mod a PM and say, oops sorry I broke the rules, it was a genuine lapse of concentration on my part, it won't happen again.

Hi there,i have been a member on airgunbbs for 4 years and i have never had a single problem. They are pretty unforgiving of idiots and people who break the rules though,i think it's a great forum with a wealth of knowledgeable people. The rules are there for everyone to read, dont break them and i promise you that you will enjoy being a member...

Did the mod confirm why you had been banned?

Are you sure it was for that particular interaction?

The message comes up saying I have been banned for interfering with a sales thread... No other explanation and I can't ask cos I can't log on being banned of course .
To be honest I can't see what the problem is or was as all I did was ask for a price for the gun without the kit.. I then said as its being sold only as a package I would withdraw so other potential buyers could see I wad out..
I hardly ever gon in that forum anyway so no other reason to van me .. For what it's worth I couldn't really care about the ban but am curious as to what I did wrong...

Charlie , I think they consider it to be a surreptitious form of bumping up the post .

I know it was probably genuine in your case , however its a generic solution to all their posts .

It should be a short term ban , probably no more than a week or so .

In future pm the seller if you are interested .

I was also banned for a similar offence a few years back .

Seen your post. You do have to watch your wording on there as retribution comes fast and you have no say in the matter.::D

Does seem a bit harsh Charlie. I will have to have a wee look at rules on there as I do go on once in a while. I would also like to say I sold a scope to Charlie a while back and he turned up with the cash and was polite and easy to deal with. Better days ahead Charlie :)

    and rightly so

fancy asking questions on a sales thread, your just supposed to buy it. end of. if its not right tuff luck :eek:o

banes me that you have to buy something outright before you can ask any questions etc. should be able to register your interest and then ask your questions, if the deal or item isnt right then move on.

a few times i have been gazumped when trying to collect information, its not like we are stood in a shop and can see it is it.

i personally couldnt see any problems with your enquiry, find the ban a bit harsh. have you upset someone at sometime?

    :shot:
