Does anybody take the Coriolis effect into account when judging shot placement?

A GPS and or compass would be required.

I can't decide whether it's worth the bother, especially on the standers :D

I remember trying to work it out once. At 12 ft lbs and 50 yards it's about 1/200 of a millimetre.

Anecdotal evidence from the plinking range suggest that the Magnus effect is probably much more of a worry.

If i understand the videos ( which is doubtful ) if you shoot North or South the effect is negated,so we will have to reset all our targets for North or South layouts.:eek:o:D I`m probably talking cxxp  atb Gordon.

Yes but then you have to take the incline in to account for Oop t'North and Daaahn Sawf.

Also gravity is greater at the equator than the poles because of the post-Christmad bulge.

So if i have an adjustable shooting bench with highly accurate inclinometer and don`t go to the equator we should be ok :D:shot:

Not a problem at airgun ranges;) but it is said that at the start of the Boer War the Brits couldn't hit anything, 'cos their rifles had been zeroed in the northern hemisphere, where the Coriolis effect is reversed, whereas the wily Boers were on home ground, and so were spot on.!
