    Hi All,
I know we had a vote about the interest in an MFTA summer league at Sywell but I haven't heard anything since.
    Is there any more news?

    Summer League

    Hello Midlanders`

Didn`t want to post on this issue till after the next MFTA meeting. However, since the question has been asked I will answer it.....

The Sywell Winter League poll/vote was taken by myself to gauge interest in promoting a Summer League in 2014. The results to be used as a guide to show the MFTA committee what interest and probable numbers of shooters who would be attending events. Information gained from the vote showed out of 70 shooters attending only 37 people took the trouble to even vote. Five of whom voted no. That`s nearly 50% of shooters showing no interest what so ever. On that fact I feel the Summer Series would be under represented and un-viable for the MFTA to sponsor with appropriate expenditure. Therefore, I have removed the proposal.

    Gilly.

I am ashamed to say that I was one of those who did not vote, to be honest I forgot:eek:

I would not commit to shooting a summer league in the mfta as I am generally off to gps and the spare weekends I have get filled with other things. However it would be nice to see a league but if there isn't the interest than it would be silly for the mfta to waste resourses.

If however there are club members that feel strongly about summer shoots then perhaps they could hold open shoots and that way we would get a better gauge as to the viability of a 'proper' summer league. I would certainly try to get to the odd open shoot.

You can always shoot the GP's Nick. Talk nicely to Lyndeen. :)
Great fun & you'll meet people from all over the country. Costs are a little higher than for a summer league shoot, but it's a great day out with first class shots (even some from outside of the MFTA) :D :D

I may just do that, see how confident I feel at the end of the winter league.

Like many others I feel its a real shame this has come to nothing and hope this is only the situation for now.
Perhaps, like others have suggested, Midland clubs will run open shoots throughout the summer so we can have regular competitions without the big commitment of the GPs. Although I'll still be having a go at a few if wife and baby allow.
However, a big thanks to Gilly for his efforts to take this forward.
    It is welcome and appreciated.

Far Coley and Milride will be hosting shoots throughout the summer season. I have been in discussion with the Milride crew who will hold shoots on a Saturday afternoon from around 12midday. Far Coley will be holding them on a Sunday morning around 9am, but only when there are no MFTA or BFTA completions on. It was going to be set up for a bit of friendly rivalry between the 2 clubs with teams of 3-5 shooters depending on numbers attending. I'm sure other clubs would be most welcome to put a team in to make it even more interesting. I will disciuss it more in detail with John Sears and the guys at Milride to see what can be arranged.

I'm gutted too that the Summer league did not take off. Small clubs like ours with less than 15 members could do with a bit of extra money to keep us going, especially with the ground rent rising this year.

All the shoots at Far Coley are posted on here, I will ask Milride if they will do the same, or I will do it for them.

All we need to get it up and running is a minimum of 3 shooters from each club who wants to take part. I will discuss with senior members of Milride to try and organise some dates.
