I picked up a lovely single shot brocock contour for the son to start with. The only issue is it has a very limited shot capacity and an even lower suitable velocity grouping. So the question is can I give it a few pumps on the way round a competition course or do I need to trade it in when the time comes?

I've heard of people leaving a dive bottle half way round a course before, so don't see why not. If your son gets into shooting, maybe an S200 could be one to look at. Very capable gun, and I believe is good for around 40 good shots between fills

Interesting, thanks. Have ordered a pump as I think it will be better value for value than constantly filling from a bottle. The s200 was on the top of my list before the contour caught my eye.

When they found rust in my 300 bar 3L dive cylinder they asked if I’d been topping it up with a pump...

Interesting, did they think rust transferred from the pump then?

Our local dive centre also warned about "damp air" from manual pumps causing damage to the inside of dive bottles/gun cylinders.

If hand pumps are used they mush have a "dry pack" or "dry filter" installed and maintained apparently (whatever they are).

Yes I have seen examples of pumps with dry filters. Slightly concerning as you don’t want rust in your rifle either?!

    Hi James

For the price of a decent quality multi stage hand pump you could probably get a little buddy bottle 2nd hand that you can take on the course with you, that is assuming you have a bigger bottle at home. If not then maybe save the money and upgrade when you boy gets into it a bit more.

They said they can be a source of moisture yes.

The guys around here are pretty serious when it comes to air because of the amount of commercial and extreme diving done so I tend to go by their advice.

    Hi johnoneuk
Not sure if you will pick this up but I would like a buddy bottle and the atttachment to fill the brocock contour. Where should I start to look for such a luxury?
    Best regards

Why not fit a bigger cylinder to the gun ?
    Looks like there's room
