Acquired a new rifle, so made a new custom grip set for it...

So, after dipping my toe in the world of FT at Hereward last weekend (and loved it!), I took the plunge and traded in one of my rifles for a pre-loved Steyr Challenge that happened to be on the shelf at my local RFD.

It had a couple of nice bits on it, including a Gemini butt hook and a Rowan adjustable hamster. I also got a decent deal on a Nikko Hornet ED 10-50 scope to put on it as well.

Tried it out at my local range, and it is shooting some great groups at 50yds, so I am very happy!

One thing however, it had the standard black RH grip set, but I am a leftie!

I have made a few custom wooden grips in the past for my other rifles/pistols in the past, so thought I’d have a go at making a set for the Steyr out of some walnut I had in my shed (saved for a rainy day!).

This is the result. A proper leftie now (apart from the cocking lever, but I prefer it that way.)

    What do you guys think?

    WOW!

    That looks proper.

Expect plenty of people to request something similar for their rifles.

    Thanks for the kind comments.

First outing with the rifle. Outside with a gentle breeze, I managed these 10 shot groups, rested at 50 yards.

I personally am impressed, compared to my other rifles anyway!

Nice job on the woodwork Simon, I said it was probably dangerous letting you have a go with Lee's Steyr!:D Hope it does good things for your scores.

    Thanks Jerry.

Yes, had the opportunity, so had to take it!

Just need a day to work out all the ranges and clicks, etc....
