    Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and from across the pond, but I shoot in the WFTF Piston class in the states. I've made up a target that I haven't seen around before, and I thought I'd share it here if anyone is interested. It's basically an attempt to lay out the WFTF kill zone/range parameters on a shootable practice target. I ended up with the following:

    <a href="http://s856.photobucket.com/user/mattnbean/media/Shot%20targets%20and%20groups/WFTF_killzones_zpsef5ff9a1.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i856.photobucket.com/albums/ab123/mattnbean/Shot%20targets%20and%20groups/WFTF_killzones_zpsef5ff9a1.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo WFTF_killzones_zpsef5ff9a1.jpg"/></a>

One can see how I tried to show how the 15mm killzone is only used up to 20m, the 25mm is for up to 35m, and the 40mm is for out to 50m. I included conversions at the bottom of the page for us non-Europeans :) Finally, I tried to show the KZ size and yardage limitations for forced position shots.

I've attempted to set up a google doc where anyone can download the PDF of the document, which should print to the right size if you format your printer settings correctly (i.e., to print at full-size, without auto-formatting)

    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-iiC6Cx5kAWTy1xZmRlTkJLQjA/edit?usp=sharing

I welcome any feedback, and please let me know if downloading doesn't work.

    Happy shooting,

    Matt B.

    Hi Matt
I know I'm being picky but any chance of a good 'ol imperial version please?
I can see the conversion chart at the bottom but I don't do metric lol!
    Thanks kiltyft@gmail.com

Also you can have a 40mm target under 20yrds in a positional lane. ;)

And a max of 25% of the course can be reduced size kills. :)

Max reducers on a course is 25% on a WFTF course.

Might be clearer to have the target as 3 sheets of paper - 40mm, 25mm, 15mm and put a little key on each sheet to give the rules for that killzone size at that distance.

Correct Brian, course cannot exceed 25% reducers so 12 per course max. :)

Hahaha - there are only 3 countries left which do not use the metric system - USA, Liberia and Burma

Good on you Matt for trying to make the US change (yes, I know there are road signs in southern Arizona in KPH - I used to live there)

then there are countries where "Imperial" still lingers in dark deep corners :)

    Cheers

Brian, I just heard from a fellow shooter over here that he's made almost the very targets you describe. I wasn't aware of them before, but they seem great.

    Check out:

    https://sites.google.com/site/hrpcfieldtarget/printable-targets

He's done them as black KZ's on white, to simulate the hole in the faceplate.

Cheers, and thanks for the feedback.

Good point on the positionals, Conor. I'll work on an edit, and see if I can replace the old version with a new one.

Wouldn't it be nice if we all saw full size KZ's that close? A thrown rock might do...

    Alright...

I've edited the document as Conor suggested, and replaced the original post's link with the new, updated target. The old target remains online, it's just not linked anymore.

    Hope that helps,

    Matt
